“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God . . . and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were unfastened.” Acts 16:25-26.
“Prayer is the root, the fountain, the mother of a thousand blessings.” St. John Chrysostom.
Lord Jesus, we thank You for teaching us to pray. Surely prayer shakes the foundations of the jails where we are locked, prayer throws open the doors behind which we have been locked; prayer unfastens the chains which have been binding us. May Your Spirit lead us to offering you those life changing prayers that we may be set free. Amen.
