Sunday, April 2, 2023 Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion
“Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus inside the praetorium and gathered the whole cohort around him. They stripped off his clothes and threw a scarlet military cloak about him. Weaving a crown of thorns, they placed it on his head and a reed in his right hand. And kneeling before him they mocked him saying “Hail King of the Jews.” They spat upon him and took the reed and kept striking him on the head.” Matthew 27:27-30.
“Jesus Christ has taken the lead on the way of the cross. He has suffered first. He does not drive us toward suffering but shares it with us, wanting us to have life and to have it in abundance.” Pope St. John Paul II.
My Jesus, You suffered this torture for us, Lord have mercy. You conquered evil through Your steadfast love and humility. Yet even today, many still mock You, being blinded by the enemy. Shed Your light upon us anew, have mercy, for we are poor, and blind and naked. Amen.
