A CALL TO ACTION
SPEAK OUT TO SAVE THE FATHER SERRA STATUE!
This Wednesday, July 15th, the Ventura City Council will host a virtual meeting at 6pm to discuss the removal of the Father Junipero Serra statue that now stands in front of the city hall. Saint Junipero Serra was a man of God, a friend to the Chumash people, and the founder of our city. We ask local residents, especially from the city of Ventura, to speak out against the slander against Father Serra and the removal of the statue. Let your voice be heard!
On Wednesday, at 6pm, join the virtual meeting with this link
https://bit.ly/FatherSerraMeeting! The city recommends logging in 15 minutes early, at 5:45 pm, to ensure a chance to speak.
We recommend joining the virtual meeting on a laptop or desktop computer. When prompted to join the meeting, click on “join by browser” and then request to speak by entering your request in the city clerk’s chat box. The City Clerk will develop a list and announce your name when it’s your turn. Each speaker should be allotted 3 minutes, but depending on the number of callers, this time may be shortened. Be prepared to wait on a long hold for your turn to speak out for the statue of Saint Junipero Serra!
To access the virtual meeting by phone, please download the Cisco WebEx Meetings app ahead of time. After joining the meeting, swipe to the screen with the list of attendees and click on “City Clerk (host)." A chat box will then pop up where you can request a chance to speak.
Also, please take a few minutes now to write and send to the City Council your support for keeping Fr. Serra’s statue
