“Peter turned and saw the disciple following whom Jesus loved . . . he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about him?” Jesus said to him, “What if I want him to remain until I come? What concern is it of yours? You follow me,” (Jn. 21:20-22).
“The greater and more persistent your confidence in God, the more abundantly you will receive all that you ask.” St. Albert the Great
Father, many times we interfere in issues which do not concern us. May we follow your Son, putting all our trust in Him to lead us to who we ought to be, doing what we must and go where we should. Amen.
Amen
SPECIAL DRIVE-IN SERVICE TOMORROW & FOOD DRIVE!
As we all know during these difficult times as our Carpinteria community struggles with the Covid-19 virus, many of our neighbors and friends have lost their jobs and are struggling to meet the basic needs of their families from day to day. As disciples of
Jesus, who fed the hungry, we here at St. Joseph Church will be holding a food drive this Sunday, May 31, 2020 from 10 am - Noon. Our goal is to be able to distribute needed food staples to the Carpinteria community in need as soon as possible.
You may drop off your donations of non-parishable food staples in the St. Joseph’s parking lot located at 1532 Linden Avenue. Tables will be set up in the parking lot for you to place your donated food items in order to maintain social distancing. Please enter at the El Carro entrance and exit using the Linden exit. If you would like to contribute to our food drive through a monetary donation please drop of your donation at the parish office in an envelope clearly marked “food drive.”
Your generosity is greatly appreciated as we come together as a community to meet the daily needs of those suffering during this trying time.
This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday and preparations are underway as we come closer to the day when we can reopen our churches.
While we wait for that day, however, Bishop Barron wishes to signal to our people that the time is fast approaching when we will begin to leave our homes and once again assemble and pray, together. In this vein we want to make you aware that Bishop Barron will preside in an outdoor prayer services on Pentecost Sunday at St. Joseph Church at 2 pm.
We invite you to join us for a special drive-in service at St. Joseph Church with Bishop Barron this Sunday, May 31st, at 2 pm on the grounds of St. Joseph Church. Please park your car on the field. You and your family can all worship together, experiencing a service consisting an outdoor Liturgy of the Word and Eucharistic Adoration.
We are looking forward to being together at this special drive-in church experience!
Please note that while this is an outdoor event everyone will be asked to remain in their cars to ensure safe distancing.
