Saturday August 6, 2022 – Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord

“At that time: Jesus took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. And as he was praying, the appearance of his countenance was altered, and his clothing became dazzling white. And behold, two men talked with him, Moses and Elijah . . . And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!” Luke 9:28-30, 35.

“Listen to Jesus, and follow him; that’s the message of the Transfiguration.” Pope Francis.

Lord Jesus, You took Your beloved Apostles on the mountain to prepare them for the suffering You were to undergo; they were to be strong and courageous for You did not choose the path of power but one of self-giving and love. Give us a keen and attentive ear to listen to You as we also walk this path towards our salvation. Amen.

"En ese momento: Jesús llevó consigo a Pedro, Juan y Santiago, y subió a la montaña para orar. Y mientras oraba, su cara cambio de aspecto y su ropa se volvió blanca deslumbrante. Y he aquí, dos hombres hablaron con él, Moisés y Elías... Y una voz salió de la nube, diciendo: "Este es mi Hijo, mi Elegido; ¡escúchenlo!" Lucas 9:28-30, 35.

Señor Jesús, Llevaste a Tus amados apóstoles a la montaña para prepararlos para el sufrimiento que ibas a padecer; debían ser fuertes y valientes, porque Tú no elegiste el camino del poder, sino uno de entrega y amor. Danos un oído agudo y atento para escucharte mientras también caminamos por este camino hacia nuestra salvación. Amén.
