“It happened in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John. On coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens being torn open, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him. And a voice came from the heavens “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” Mark 1:9-11.

“The Lord was Baptized, not to be cleansed Himself, but to cleanse the waters, so that those waters, cleansed by the flesh of Christ which knew no sin, might have the power of Baptism.” St. Ambrose.

Lord Jesus, You humbled yourself, becoming one of us, and being baptized by John, though You were no sinner. You were Holy, and so made the waters holy Yourself. Help us to live like You did Lord, humble and full of Truth, always seeking the Father’s will. Amen.

Lunes 8 de enero 2024    Bautismo del Señor

"Sucedió en aquellos días que Jesús vino de Nazaret de Galilea y fue bautizado en el Jordán por Juan. Al salir del agua, vio que los cielos se abrían y que el Espíritu descendía sobre él como una paloma. Y vino una voz de los cielos: "Tú eres mi Hijo amado; mi elegido". Marcos 1:9-11.

"El Señor fue bautizado, no para ser purificado él mismo, sino para limpiar las aguas, a fin de que aquellas aguas, purificadas por la carne de Cristo que no conoció pecado, pudieran tener el poder del bautismo" San Ambrosio.

Señor Jesús, Tú te humillaste a ti mismo, convirtiéndote en uno de nosotros, y siendo bautizado por Juan, aunque no eras pecador. Tú fuiste Santo, y por eso hiciste que las aguas fueran santas Tú mismo. Ayúdanos a vivir como Tú lo hiciste, Señor, humildes y llenos de Verdad, buscando siempre la voluntad del Padre. Amén.
