“When Jesus heard of the death of John the Baptist, he withdrew in a boat to a deserted place by himself. The crowds heard of this and followed him on foot from their towns. When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, and he cured their sick.” Matthew 14:13-14.

“God is full of compassion and never fails those who are afflicted and despised, if they trust in Him alone.” St. Teresa of Avila.

My Jesus, we remember you are one of us, fully human, and yet the Son of God.  You suffered sadness at the death of John, and your heart was full of compassion for the people who ran to you. You were their Light in the darkness. Be our Light today, Lord. Amen.

"Cuando Jesús se enteró de la muerte de Juan el Bautista, se retiró solo en una barca a un lugar desierto. Las multitudes se enteraron de esto y lo siguieron a pie desde sus ciudades. Cuando desembarcó y vio a la gran multitud, su corazón se conmovió con lástima por ellos, y curó a sus enfermos". Mateo 14:13-14.

"Dios está lleno de compasión y nunca falla a los afligidos y despreciados, si confían sólo en Él". Santa Teresa de Ávila.

Jesús mío, recordamos que eres uno de nosotros, completamente humano, y sin embargo el Hijo de Dios.  Sufriste tristeza por la muerte de Juan, y tu corazón estaba lleno de compasión por las personas que corrieron hacia ti. Tú eras su Luz en la oscuridad. Sé nuestra Luz hoy, Señor. Amén.
