“While they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.” Acts 13:2-3.

“Fasting detaches you from this world and prayer re-attaches us to the next world.” Fulton J. Sheen.

Father, the Early Church teaches us well how worshipping You should be followed by fasting. We thank You that our ancestors were keen on listening to the promptings of the Spirit and they followed Him promptly. Teach us how to pray and fast as we listen and follow the Spirit of Your Son. Amen.

Padre, la Iglesia primitiva nos enseña bien cómo adorarte debe ser seguido por el ayuno. Te damos gracias porque nuestros antepasados estaban dispuestos en escuchar las impresiones del Espíritu y lo siguieron con prontitud. Enséñanos a orar y ayunar mientras escuchamos y seguimos el Espíritu de Tu Hijo. Amén.
