Wednesday, December 28, 2022 – Feast of the Holy Innocents, Martyrs

“The angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, and said “Rise, take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. Herod is going to search for the child to destroy him.”  Joseph rose, took the child and his mother by night, and departed for Egypt.” Matthew 2:13-14.

“Beware of despairing about yourself: you are commanded to put your trust in God, and not in yourself.” St. Augustine.

Lord Jesus, You were opposed from the beginning, and people sought to kill You. Mary and Joseph lived in utter trust in God even through circumstances that looked so bleak. Through the intercession of Mary and Joseph, may we too always trust in God our Father. Amen.

"El ángel del Señor se le apareció a José en un sueño, y le dijo: Levántate, toma al niño y a su madre, huye a Egipto y quédate allí hasta que te lo diga. Herodes va a buscar al niño para destruirlo".  José se levantó, tomó al niño y a su madre por la noche y partió hacia Egipto". Mateo 2:13-14.

"Cuídate de desesperarte contigo mismo: se te ordena poner tu confianza en Dios, y no en ti mismo". San Agustín.

Señor Jesús, Tú te opusiste desde el principio, y la gente buscó matarte. María y José vivieron en total confianza en Dios, incluso a través de circunstancias que parecían tan sombrías. Por intercesión de María y José, que también nosotros confiemos siempre en Dios nuestro Padre. Amén.
