“But I say to you, Do not swear at all . . . Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from the Evil One.” Matthew 5:34-37.

“Our Lord needs from us neither great deeds, nor profound thoughts, neither intelligence nor talents. He cherishes simplicity.” St. Therese of Lisieux.

Lord Jesus sometimes we would like to affirm our words with a swear by heaven, earth or even parts of our body. You command us not to swear at all. I pray, give me the grace to speak plainly, expressing myself simply; that when it is a ‘yes’ it may be a yes and when it is a ‘no’ I may say so simply. Amen.

"Pero yo les digo: No juren en absoluto... Deja que lo que dices sea simplemente 'Sí' o 'No'; cualquier cosa que se añada viene del Maligno". Mateo 5:4-37.

"Nuestro Señor no necesita de nosotros ni grandes obras, ni pensamientos profundos, ni inteligencia ni talentos. Él aprecia la simplicidad." Santa Teresa de Lisieux.

Señor Jesús, a veces nos gustaría afirmar nuestras palabras con un juramento por el cielo, la tierra o incluso partes de nuestro cuerpo. Tu nos ordenas que no juremos en absoluto. Ruego, dame la gracia de hablar claramente, expresándome simplemente; que cuando sea 'sí' cuando sea un sí y cuando es un 'no' pueda decirlo simplemente. Amén.
