Masks are required. Each family must bring their own face covering.
Hand sanitation is required. Each family is asked to bring their own hand sanitizer.
In adherence to the guidelines provided by the CDC, State of California, Santa Barbara County, and the City of Carpinteria regarding healthy hygiene practices, employees and volunteers will be trained in best safety and hygienic practices.
High-risk individuals (e.g., people who are 65 and older, who are immuno-compromised or who have underlying health conditions) will be discouraged from serving in any capacity that brings them into contact with others.
Welcoming the faithful to the worship space on the field
Volunteers will be directing vehicles from the parking lot onto the field through one of two entrances. They will be wearing face coverings.
One entrance is in the center of the field, following the line of the cement drain or gutter.
The other entrance is to the right near the large Salvation Army Truck.
The volunteers will perform the following duties:
Greet all visitors.
Advise people to return home if they are experiencing symptoms or are considered at higher risk
Remind visitors to wash/sanitize their hands and wear a face covering.
Remind visitors to maintain social distancing.
Charity and understanding are asked of all the faithful during this time.
Mass on the Field
Ushers or “traffic controller” will direct the faithful to their places, which will be 15 feet apart from one another. (Family units from the same house may sit together without social distance)
Ushers will pass among the faithful to accept their donations at the regular time for the offertory collection
The priest, deacon, and eucharistic ministers will bring Holy Communion to each family unit at the normal time for Holy Communion. There will be no communion procession.
For the Communion process:
The priest, deacon and eucharistic ministers will sanitize their hands prior to the distribution of Holy Communion.
The priest, deacon and eucharistic ministers will wear face coverings.
The faithful will receive communion in the hand only.
The faithful will leave their face coverings on as they receive communion from the priest or deacon.
The faithful may then remove their face covering and consume the host, whereupon they will be expected put the face covering back on.
The priest, deacon and eucharistic ministers will sanitize their hands following the distribution of Holy Communion.
Leaving the Field
At the end of Mass: The faithful will be reminded to keep their face coverings on, return to their vehicles, and be patient for the dismissal process.
The faithful will be asked to follow the directions of the ushers or “traffic controllers” who will dismiss them row by row.
May the faithful exit safely, head home, and enjoy a blessed Sunday.
